Dutch Baby Quilt

A while ago I was asked to make a quilt with a Dutch theme for Creative Expressions, the sister magazine of Down Under Quilts. Of course I was happy to make one! It has pinwheel blocks in the colours of the Dutch flag (red, white and blue), with one orange square for the Dutch Royal House of Orange. I used some typical Dutch 'farmers handkerchiefs' that my mother-in-law and my BFF Hylkia (the Apple Tart Queen) had sent me. (If you would like to get some you can find them here)

I especially like this one, with drawings of Friesian cities and a traditional Friesian sailing ship:

I am thrilled that this quilt was chosen to be on the cover of the magazine!

UPDATE 2016: The pattern for this quilt is now for sale in my Etsy pattern store.

Lovely as usual. I think the squares on the sides of the pinwheels are very effective. My mother was Dutch, unfortunately she never spoke it to us kids so we are all a bit ignorant!

Loving your Friesian quilt. Is that more of your lovely printing Linda. Well done on being published let alone being chosen for the cover
