Yesterday we went to the beach in Caloundra. I am not really a beach person but I do love looking for shells. Here are the treasures we found yesterday.

(Does anyone know the name of these shells?)
These are my favourites. Look at the wonderful designs!

PS I just discovered the shells in the second photo are called Patellogastropoda or limpets in plain English (Schaalhoren in het Nederlands).
Barnacles perhaps? That is how our 'Commotion in the Ocean' book describes them. Was it Shelly Beach? That is our favorite :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! we used to call these "Chinaman's Hats"
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely indeed and a picture to look at!
ReplyDeleteDát zijn nog eens prachtige schelpen!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely limpets. My DH is a super keen shell collector, if you need to know names I can ask him to identify them for you - but expect to get more information than you really want!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a "beach person" either but love looking for shells on the occasions when I'm by the ocean. If, however, there were shells like this along the South Carolina coast....I'd become a "beach person"! These are BEAUTIFUL!
